In 2018, Creative Junction worked with Slough Libraries & Culture Service and seven established Slough artists + three emerging Slough artists to engage over 500 residents in active arts participation over nine days of the national Get Creative Festival. These culturally & creatively diverse artists shared their practice, encouraged wide participation were supported to design, develop & deliver a rich & varied programme with & for people.
Art activity happened in 9+ locations – 4 Libraries; 2 Libraries/Children’s Centres; Windmill Care Centre Home and The Curve for the sharing.
36 x sessions were offered across Slough Libraries during the week Saturday 17th – Friday 23rd March.
In addition, 6 x music sessions were held with residents and carers from Windmill Care Centre Home, Slough.
On Saturday 24th March drop in sessions were offered from 10am – 2pm by 9 Slough based artists.
There was a sharing between 2pm – 3pm attended by over 50 people with 6 x residents and carers from Windmill Care Centre Home singing the song they co-wrote with their artist as part of the sharing. In addition, Creative Junction worked with Britwell Drama – 25 young members aged 8–16 and adult volunteers to produce and perform a piece of theatre at The Venue at The Curve following the Get Creative sharing. This was attended by over 100 people. Performing at their local theatre resulted in huge excitement and pride from the young people and their families.
