Social Enterprise and Creative Industries development
stART up is for people with an interest in social enterprise and/or the Creative Industries.
Creative Junction has created and is delivering stART up: a series of sessions designed to inspire people to raise their aspirations; develop skills, confidence and leadership; encourage them to be enterprising and work ready; and raise awareness of the creative industries and enterprise. This programme of activity is hosted in Room 350.
Learning opportunities include:
- Access to advice and information from business/creative experts, including Amazon, Mars, British Airways and 02
- Art inspiration and skills development sessions, inc: film making, games design, writing, web design, digital art, photography etc
- Creative apprenticeships, internships and traineeships and other paid/volunteer opportunities
- Achievement of an Arts Award qualification (that develops creativity and leadership skills) and the Social Enterprise Qualification (that encourages and accredits people interested in making positive change; for themselves, society and the environment)
Through these experiences and development of practical and life skills we aim to break down barriers to local employment and self employment for young people and entrepreneurs.
Creative Junction is working with Slough Aspire and partners, the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, Slough Business Community Partnership, multinational businesses, third sector organisations and further/higher education providers. We have secured investment from Slough Borough Council and Artswork, the South East Bridge for Youth Engagement Slough (YES) activity and Heathrow Communities for Youth Fund for development of StART Up and work with young people.
