including Modern Art Oxford
We worked in partnership with Modern Art Oxford, Oxford Contemporary Music and The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Telling Centre, to extend and enhance their current digital offer to schools.
The Artist Not in Residence concept was developed in partnership with Chalfonts Community College, Greg Hodgson at Edge Gain and Vicky Hope Walker, Creative Junction Associate. It involves young people and teachers in schools connecting virtually to learn from and with a professional artist and arts & cultural organisation in their studio/gallery/museum. The artist is, in effect, not in residence; but able to demonstrate, share and pass on knowledge and skills as in a physical artist residency. The Artist Not in Residence brings together cultural organisations with schools and artists, in meaningful connections, primarily on-line but also on-land.
The digital offer programme explored how digital based learning, using Skype, can enable cultural organisations and artists to deliver curriculum needs and build relevant virtual resources for schools. Schools benefited through the increased access to high quality arts, creative and cultural professionals, increasing students’ motivation, skills and understanding.
Creative Junction received investment from Artswork, the South East Bridge to design and deliver part of their Extending Digital Practice programme, supported by Arts Council England and the Department of Education.
