The programme was offered to schools across the Thames valley for 2008 and will be rolled out across the South East region in 2009 and across England in 2010.
The leadership group for this programme included a small number of young people identified as potential creative leaders, working in partnership with SEGRO and Creative Junction staff. This group were involved in recruiting schools and artists and in monitoring and evaluating the programme, including shadowing and supporting the planning, marketing and management of the launch and exhibition events. For the 2008 SEGRO Young Artists programme Secondary schools from across the Thames Valley Regions: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes, five schools were chosen to participate in the ‘world of work’ themed Programme. Each selected SEGRO Young Artist school was paired with a professional artist who worked with teachers and students during the Spring & Summer Term to develop artwork with a ‘world of work’ theme. The artwork was presented in a summer exhibition in London. From the exhibition, selected pieces of art were then purchased by SEGRO and displayed in the company’s offices.
