Sing Up

Sing Up is part of a national programme aimed to get all young people of primary school age and older to enjoy singing. This programme is funded by youth music, which has set up numerous Sing Up Communities across the country. Our Sing Up community is called Sing Up East Berkshire and we will be concentrating our work in Slough and Windsor. We are hoping to achieve this by:

  • Making every primary school in Slough and Windsor a singing school
  • Creating partnership singing opportunities between schools both primary and secondary and community groups
  • Supporting any existing singing opportunities already provided in both towns i.e. family choirs, community singing groups, singing projects in community and youth centres, early years centre's and in any other settings we have not discovered. This can include finding and recruiting a professional music leader to support projects.
  • Developing young people and empowering them with the confidence to teach singing

After two years running the programme, the Sing Up community programme in East Berkshire has been evaluated and received a "good quality" mark in their final evaluation report.
"The strands now show much hard work has been undertaken by the programme managers"- Margaret M Griffiths, Sing up  National Evaluator

The project has been managed by project leaders Philippa Berry, Jordon Maynard-Daley and Gloria Garcia, who have led different strands of work.
