What will it be?

The Sounding Board is the embodiment of Creative Junction’s ethos. It provides an engine room where people from different sectors who share a belief in learning, creativity and young people can see what alchemy can be effected by thinking and acting together. It is to do with action and not just ideas.

This is an influential group, seeking to make connections, regionally and nationally and interested in shaping policy.

The Sounding Board is an ideas forum - a research base - asking important questions, probing deeper and providing a resonating board for deep and honest reflection about the work we all do and its value. It will challenge and provoke us and help us all to work in new ways. We look for transformations.

What will it do for its members?

For the Creative Junction team, the Sounding Board will provide necessary punctuation points – challenging with questions, celebrating with exclamations, pausing with commas and closing with ... The Sounding Board will keep us sharp, test our ideas and guide our practice; our meetings will set up milestones, provide reassurance and encourage us to step up to new challenges.

The Sounding Board offers a natural fit for its members, connecting us all to a group of great creative thinkers with a spread of knowledge and skills, where we can synthesise ideas, action and strategy. Ideas can be shared and tested. We are interested and curious about all of our journeys.

Members of the group will be both inward and outward facing, seeking to learn from each other, empower and collaborate, as well as to influence and be influenced by new opportunities and external ideas. The Sounding Board provides an environment for new connections, a way into new networks and friendships. Meetings will be uplifting.

What do we each bring to this group?

The Sounding Board represents a range of expertise, knowledge and experience. People in the group know how schools work, how to run organisations, how to lead campaigns in voluntary and public sectors and how to make links between people, ideas and organisations.

Members are good at talking, in public and in conversations; they enjoy bringing people together, having ideas and building on ideas; they like to listen, seek clarity and reflect.

The group is driven by:

A shared passion about young people and learning

An ambition to unlock the potential in every child

A desire to make a difference by opening up education and reinvigorating places where young people learn and those who learn with them

A belief in the importance of creativity

A commitment to Creative Junction and a belief in what it stands for
