What we do

Since 2002 we have led and supported creative work with and for children, young people, families and communities. We have developed an extensive portfolio and an excellent reputation and track record including high profile and large scale event, project and programme design and delivery.

Creative Junction has a geographical focus on our home town of Slough and our immediate neighbours: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and London; but we also work regionally, nationally and internationally.

Creative and arts-led activity

A well organised event with friendly staff and great activities. A real shame that there are not more activities like this for pre-school kids. Thanks Creative Junction!’ Parent

“Your activities have been my favourite of them all” young person, Summer of Fun

Anna and Jessica both have a creative background and creative facilitation experience.

Anna is a writer and theatre maker. She delivers creative writing and poetry session s and directs and produces youth theatre. She is a member of the Britwell Youth Theatre Management committee.

Jessica is a dancer and delivers movement sessions, particularly for people with disabilities. She also has a love for storytelling and has begun delivering active storytelling sessions for early years and families.

As well as this we facilitate a range of creative activities, from craft and making to creative thinking.

Our creative skills enable us to facilitate a varied range of sessions for children, families and communities but also for arts, cultural and business clients. This might be team building sessions; visioning and planning; training; or networking.

Creative industry development

“The Project has made such a significant impact on my confidence not only as a human being but also in my profession as a songwriter/producer/performer and has made me realise that my dream of being an artist is now something than can be made a reality.” Young artist

“Working with Creative Junction was such an experience…the way that you handled and really kept everything relaxed is such a testament. Furthermore the event on the day was such an inspiration.” Young event planner

“When Hillie was deciding how to wrap up her blog she said how confident she now feels as a result of being an Our View Rep. Thank you so much for giving her this amazing opportunity and for supporting me to work with her, it’s definitely going to be a project I’ll remember for a long time.” Artist mentor

“The students and I thoroughly enjoyed ‘Get Enterprising’ – they are still buzzing about this now! The event was incredible! – Teacher, Baylis Court School, Slough

Our roots are in inspiring and raising the aspirations of children and young people and today we continue to support young people’s aspirations through various sector and real world opportunities.

We actively seek creative industry opportunities for young people across all of our activity, this has included as paid dance assistants, event planners, workshop facilitators and stewards.

We have collaborated with arts and culture organisations and businesses for over 50 young people to ‘take over’ a job role as part of annual National Takeover Day championed by the Children’s Commissioner.

We have hosted over 150 work experience placements since 2002. We regularly host post graduates for the Reading University Further Development Placement and deliver seminars and bespoke sessions for creative industry and social enterprise students from The Henley Business School and Brunel University.

We deliver work which provides a platform for young people to learn, develop and grow as professionals: gaining exposure, understanding the industry, developing relevant skills, learning from and alongside professionals.

We design and deliver training and professional development +offer coaching and mentoring for young people, creative industry and arts professionals, social entrepreneurs and start ups.

We also support and empower them to gain qualifications including Arts Award and Social Enterprise Qualification:

Arts Award

Arts Award (link www.artsaward.org.uk) is a range of nationally recognised qualifications that can support everyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part through taking challenges in an art form – from fashion to digital art, pottery to poetry.

The Creative Junction team are all Arts Award advisers, covering all five levels from Discover to Gold.

We have supported hundreds of young people to:

  • discover the enjoyment of creating and participating across art forms
  • demystify and experiment with all sorts of sector opportunities, from curation to coding
  • develop their creativity and leadership skills
  • learn new skills and share them with others
  • get to work with or experience working with artists and arts and cultural organisations
  • gain experience and knowledge to progress into further education and employment

Working towards Arts Award with Creative Junction has made us grow so much as artists. I now understand the processes of an exhibition and have learnt so many life skills.” Xtra Art young people’s art collective

In addition, Creative Junction trains advisers (who work with young people).

We specialise in creating memories: providing unforgettable experiences.

We also work hard to work magic: to brief, to budget, to deadlines.

We are a team of innovators, full of creative suggestions and solutions; with an extensive portfolio of works created from the grain of an idea into a fully fledged, effective and exciting reality.

We have creative producer experience in designing and managing a diverse range of events, festivals and celebrations; including place-based art work and site-specific spectaculars.

We are doers and so have exceptional organisation skills at our very hearts: demonstrated through a multiple of small, medium and large scale creative arts and cultural projects and programmes; across art forms; and with and for a wide range of partners and clients; ensuring effective planning, delivery, review and reflection of activity and celebration of successes and achievements.

We also have proven ability and confidence to work regularly with a wide range of contractors and stakeholders, manage complex logistics and rigorous health and safety procedures, including over sustained periods with thousands of members of the public.

Whatever the purpose, we will ensure the work builds on excellent practice whilst offering originality.

Our work is always meaningful and memorable: meeting its aims whilst enabling everyone involved to feel engaged, inspired and empowered.
