Louise Keyworth

Louise is working on two strands of interest at Creative Junction: a programme of work around family learning and museums, and an online interactive resource called ‘The Brief Case’ containing bite-sized examples of Arts & Culture policy & practice, in Education, useful to educators wanting to embed creativity within their curricula. Louise works part time for Creative Junction on Mondays & Tuesdays.

Louise studied Drama and trained to be a primary teacher. She taught in London (happily, whilst harbouring wonderlust) then studied for an MA in Performance Studies, which increased her appetite for performance in other parts of the World, and directing. Between 2000-2002 she was Artistic Director of Action Theatre at an educational media NGO in Malawi, creating performances and social mobilisation campaigns around important issues including HIV-AIDS, domestic violence, youth justice & soil erosion.

Unsurprisingly, this experience changed her outlook on many things, including the potential and power of working with communities through creative & participatory techniques. It also demonstrated the importance of understanding and working with different cultures. Since then, Louise has worked as an applied drama practitioner in theatres, schools and communities around London and Berkshire. Between 2004-7, she was part-time Education Manager at Windsor Arts Centre and developed a creative-learning laboratory that made lots of cutting edge practice happen between artists, young people and teachers.

Louise lives in Maidenhead, is married to Mark and has two children, Mabel and Gilbert.
