Kyla Booth-Lucking
Kyla is currently working with Creative Junction to support Pegasus Theatre, Oxford’s. Kyla is really excited to be working closely with Pegasus and their youth companies to promote their global citizen project, Create for Change and is working in collaboration with Digital Producer Sam Sedgman to create a series of digital resources and events.
Kyla’s background is mostly in dance, youth and community projects. Kyla gained a BA (Hons) Dance and Culture Degree from University of Surrey and went on to work as a Dance Manager for Retina Dance Company and a number of independent dance artists. Kyla continued to perform in independent productions and developed her teaching skills through community dance projects with Retina, South East Dance and Rambert and as an A level and GCSE Dance Teacher. After a stint at Rambert Dance Company as Education Officer she moved to Brighton in 2005 joining South East Dance. In her role as Head of Community and Learning she specialised in projects for young people at risk and innovative work for the community.
Kyla believes that art can transform people’s lives and she strives to help artists and the community to make and enjoy the best art and artistic experiences possible. In 2009 her Moving Voices project created 4000 opportunities for young people to engage with the arts and to lead their own projects. Kyla also works closely with artists mentoring and coaching young dance managers and new companies such as Underground 7 to develop their work. Her other clients include The Old Vic Tunnels and Oxford Dance Forum.
